About Us

Nadia Amante is the nom de plume of the makers behind the Starling Movement. Nadia Amante is the next level in a creative partnership that began circa 2012 with a series of writing workshops and publications based out of Los Angeles, California. 

 

Seemingly opposites - one from the East, one from the West, one floating in a sea of ideas, the other anchored in making things concrete, one who wrote primarily nonfiction, the other who wrote almost exclusively fiction, one who loved salty, one who loved sweet - we found that in the act of cocreation, energies flowed and everything was made better by our shared attention.

 

Storytelling felt more alive. Planning workshops felt like discovery. Teaching and creating flowed naturally out of respect and admiration for the craft and the different perspectives each brought. For years, we danced in and out of collaboration as often as the ‘real world’ allowed.

COVID brought years of separation. One moved out of L.A. in 2019 - first north, then east. Over the course of the next five years, visits were rare. While the world changed, so did we. Our space holding shifted, as did our creative expressions. Not having the ability to cocreate in person hurt. But in 2024, we reconnected with weekly calls. That in turn seeded book ideas, letter exchanges, magical retreat weeks, and... eventually, all that you find here.

Over time, we found that our partnership - and we ourselves - shifted from a calling to be of service and inspiration to children’s book writers into a vocation to seed laughter and play and foster creative (re)awakening.

Today, we are manifesting tools to invite creative play and infinite possibility into everyday life. Along the way, we find ourselves living in a world of synchronicity. expansive joy, and so much laughter and creative flow.
